Point De Vue - Revisted

To sooth the remarks of certain ppl (hello gurtus :P ) and also to take advantage of the new google buzz, buzz, I decided to kick the head in of yet another restaurant for old time's sake...Who knows, maybe I'll enjoy it and start reviewing once again.

I had already talked about Point De Vue once and I had always been moderately happy with the place. It was a good all-rounder with goodish service and excellent food, however both of my visits to this restaurant were during non peak hours and/or weekdays and thus service could hardly be lacking in that respect.

This time I visited during the feast of St. Paul and as was expected, the dining room was packed. The restaurant seems to have lost some of it's more interesting decor, yes the tribal masks are still hanging on the walls but the zebra/leopard table decorations are gone downplaying the "Tastes from Africa" theme somewhat.

Anywho, Seated we were given menus and our drink's orders taken. I always tend to rank the service of an establishment by the prices and the actual setting of the restaurant. In the case of point de vue, with meat dishes raning from 13 to 50 Euros in price I expected courteous and respectful service to start off with. Needless to say, we got none of this. Maybe it was the full dining room or the white haze in the restaurant coming out from the kitchen but the staff seemed _Angry_ and this was reflected in the way they took our orders and served us. To add insult to injury, when one of the members at our table tried to order a pizza, we were told that no pizzas were being done today. Interesting plot to move people to order the more expensive stuff obviously but nonetheless pissing off. Atleast have the decency to print separate menus for holidays. This whole business resulted in the waitress fuming beside's us while the affected person tried to choose something else apart from the pizza.

Orders taken and the starting waits. The restaurants puts a small note on the menus to allow for 40 minutes waiting time for food to arrive after ordering and this would have been fine until we were made to wait for more than an hour and half. Service was appalling as well during this time, with waiters and/or the maître d’ of the place not showing any sort of interest in our long and painful suffering.

Food was later served where it actually gained some points for Point De Vue with everything being well cooked and seasoned. As God said to Sodoma and Gomorra, "Too Little, Too Late" and the meal was finished with full stomachs but a somewhat bitter aftertaste left by the gormless waiting stuff in this place.

Personal Opinion: Don't go here unless you know that the dining room is not going to be full. The waiting staff seem to have no idea how to cope with the load.
