I'm quite the software activist and gamer entrepreneur so I do get to know about a lot of startup projects and ideas to better the communities I am active in. Unfortunately, many of these projects and ideas usually don't make it beyond idea/planning stage as many will realise that there is a lot of work involved in this...or that the ideas would not work in a community as small as Malta's. Others will simply lose momentum as the founder/s will become busy with real life commitments and will most probably prioritise more their real life commitments than their online ones (God, do i know the feeling of this one :( )
Anyways, today I'm harboring someone else's idea out of appreciation for the simplicity but brilliant way in which the idea was implemented. Imagine a scenario:
Home, at the computer, bored of the same old multipayer games, would really like to play some less frequently played games. This is usually hard, you need to track down the people who would play with you, check connectivity, setup a hamachi channel and have everyone join it etc etc..All this hard work for simple asking the question, Gaming plz!
This is exactly the idea behind Gaming Plz; Started by Jean-luc "Fragmagnet" Gaming Plz is in essence a forum which will allow people to look for players to play some of the lesser active games in Malta. In fragmagnet's own words:

What gaming plz hopes to achieve is not to become "yet another gaming forum," but instead serve some kind of purpose beyond inane banter that most discussion boards degrade into. The point of this forum is to offer a meeting ground for us gamers to better enjoy our hobby together and to its full potential, instead of just settling for what's been offered to us year in and year out. As the name suggests, I want to better accomodate us gamers in getting what we want, and we all know that it's gaming, please.
Why?
My main source of inspiration to start this site is the CampusLan series that I've enjoyed organizing and participating in. During these events there is a fantastic sense of collaboration in gaming that is sorely lacking in the gaming community outside of the walls of LAN parties. By providing an easily accessible location for us to congregate and collaborate, much like in a LAN party, we can help each other make the most of our hobby by spreading the word further than it normally would be.
How?
The concept of gaming plz is simple. In the appropriate section (limited to only one for now), simply announce a game you would like to find a partner or group to play with. Conversely, you can also look for any announcements that have already been made, and take up other people's offers for an announced game you may be interested in. Experimenting with games you haven't played before should not be a deterrent as this will only broaden your horizons.
To improve your experience and make it easier to coordinate your gaming session, use of voice communication programs such as Skype or Ventrilo are strongly recommended. A public server list for voice comms will be posted in due course, but if the response is great enough I may even host one for the purposes of gaming plz.
Where?
For the time being, the different Forum categories will be quite limited in order to keep things simple and more effective until things have a chance to settle, but until then the sections will be as follows:
Discussion
General Discussion - The mainstay of any message board, this section is for discussion of any topics, related to gaming or otherwise.
Site Feedback - Like the site, have a good idea or just wish to help out? Post here and voice your opinion for anything related to gaming plz.
Organize
Guides - The guides section is dedicated solely to helping you get yourself geared up to enjoy a trouble free stay here at gaming plz. Here you can read, contribute to and even make your own guides to games or tools that may assist you in setting up and coordinating your gaming sessions. It is strongly advised that you visit this section and read through the essentials that you'll need to get the most out of gaming plz.
Online - This is the whole purpose of gaming plz, where you can find or organize gaming sessions for games of all kinds. As the description suggests, do not limit yourselves to just PC games. If you can play it over the internet, the platform doesn't matter!
